Championship Champions, 2024-25: Leeds United's 100-Point Promotion
Leeds United returned to the Premier League as 2024-25 Championship champions, collecting a club-record 100 points and finishing above Burnley on goal difference.

From play-off heartbreak to champions
The 2024-25 Championship season was Leeds United's response to the disappointment of the previous campaign. After losing the 2024 play-off final to Southampton at Wembley, Daniel Farke's side returned to the Championship with promotion as the clear objective. This time Leeds went all the way.
A 100-point season
Leeds finished first with 100 points from 46 Championship matches: 29 wins, 13 draws and only four defeats. They scored 95 goals and conceded just 30, producing a +65 goal difference. Burnley also reached 100 points, but Leeds finished above them on goal difference.
The key players
Joel Piroe was Leeds' leading scorer with 19 goals. Daniel James scored 12, Manor Solomon 10, and Brenden Aaronson and Willy Gnonto nine each. Solomon was a major creative influence, with the Leeds United Historical Archive recording 13 assists. Jayden Bogle, Pascal Struijk, Ao Tanaka, Joe Rodon, Junior Firpo, Ilia Gruev and Ethan Ampadu were also important contributors.
The highs and the setbacks
The season contained some huge wins, including a 7-0 victory over Cardiff City, and an outstanding defensive record with 25 clean sheets in the Championship. There were also setbacks, including a 3-0 defeat to Middlesbrough. The title race remained tight throughout, with Burnley matching Leeds' final points total.
The dramatic final day
Promotion and the Championship title were decided at Plymouth Argyle on the final day. Leeds needed a result and eventually got the decisive goal when Manor Solomon scored a dramatic late winner. The final whistle triggered scenes of celebration as Leeds became champions and returned to the Premier League.
A record-breaking campaign
The 2024-25 season established several club records. Leeds recorded 29 Championship wins, 25 clean sheets and 95 goals, their highest single-season total for 97 years. Daniel Farke became the first manager to win the Championship three times, while Leeds completed their fifth second-tier title — after 1923-24, 1963-64, 1989-90 and 2019-20.
Why 2024-25 belongs in Leeds United history
This was not simply another promotion. It was a season that combined an extraordinary points total, a dramatic title race, an explosive attacking record and a successful response to the previous year's disappointment. Leeds United were Championship champions again — and back in the Premier League.
